The Priest's Children

"The Priest's Children" is a hilarious comedy that has attracted enormous public attention in Croatia over criticism of the Catholic Church. The movie follows Don Fabian, a young priest who comes to a little unnamed Dalmatian island and begins cutting all packaged condoms in hope of increasing the number of newborn babies in this dying place. He hooks up with a store worker and a crazy pharmacist, so together, in a secret, they abolish all contraceptives on the island. After initial successes, many births and weddings, things start to get complicated. The main characters will lie more and more over time, spying on people and manipulating other people's lives, until eventually a bishop arrives on the island and everything becomes completely insane. "The Priest's Children" is a masterpiece by Vinko Bresan in which he returns to the basic elements that he used in his greatest film hits... Mediterranean environment, small Adriatic island, humorous characters, and one priest who is cutting condoms!
