Sjenica

Sjenica is one of the highest places in Serbia and is located at 1030 m above sea level. This historically important and old settlement was first mentioned in 1253 as part of the Dubrovnik road, where Dubrovnik merchants paid customs. Due to its strategic and military significance, Sjenica has been considered an important point since the beginning of the 19th century, so the most important military operations in the First Serbian Uprising, directed by Karadjordje himself, were directed towards it.
