Red poppies

The story follows a 27-year-old Vlada, who goes from Belgrade to his hometown of Sremska Mitrovica for a weekend. His plan is to stop by his old friend's birthday party and take laundry to his mother to wash along the way. While having lunch with his parents, we sense that despite the seemingly harmonious relationship, there is some distance between them. Later he goes to a birthday party, and old friends, under loud laughter, a lot of alcohol, drugs and empty drunken stories, still hide the despair of the province without perspective. We can notice the melancholy for unfulfilled dreams in all of his friends. Drenched in problems he longs to talk to someone about, and after another futile attempt at deeper communication with his parents, with a warm spring sunset, Vlada leaves by train back to Belgrade.
