Preševo

The first document mentioning Presevo dates from the 14th century. This name can be found in medieval Serbian history as early as 1389, when, as legend said, an incredibly important battle took place in the Presevo field, which was the introduction to the famous Kosovo battle between Serbs and Turks. It was under Turkish occupation from 1454 to 1912. A huge percentage, as well as the surrounding villages, were affected by the emigration of Serbs, starting from 1690 onwards, when Albanians slowly settled here.
