The material damage that fish thieves cause to the fish fund of Serbia is measured in millions of euros a year, while the damage that seems to the ecosystem is not measurable. Due to the delicate taste of its meat, sturgeon (a type of river fish that is about 2.5 million years old) was brought to the brink of extinction.
