The movie follows the last twelve months in the life of Dejan Stanić, a former general in the great Balkan wars. For the past ten years, he has been forced to hide from justice, especially by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague, over many accusations concerning his military service. He finally finds shelter with Slavko, an old man who lives in a remote mountain village. Suffering from complete alienation, Dejan not only has to face a new environment and a new reality, but he will not be able to escape his past either.
