Knjaževac

Knjazevac is located in the eastern part of Serbia, on the border with the Republic of Bulgaria. The highest point on the territory of the municipality is Midzor on Stara Planina (2169 m above sea level). In Roman history IV. century Knjezevac was written under the name Timaco Maiori. The Turks conquered it in 1396 and merged it with the Vidin pashaluq. In the First World War, during the withdrawal of the Serbian army in 1915, the people of Knjazevac stood out especially in the battles for the defense of Belgrade.
